Identification with Christ

Author: Donald Barnhouse

Dr. Barnhouse & the Bible

We were dead in trespasses and sins, aliens, in positions of enmity, but God has looked upon us through the saving work of Jesus Christ and has seen our debt paid in full. In this life enriching series, Dr. Donald Barnhouse takes us through the nuances of Romans 3:6, “We are baptized into Jesus Christ.”

Dr. Barnhouse teaches, “When we are baptized into the body of Christ by the Holy Spirit, when we were identified with Him, it was a work by the Holy Spirit that placed us in Christ positionally… in the whole scope of his being and work from eternity to eternity.” Believers have the gift of being identified to Christ in His life, baptism, works, suffering, death, and finally his resurrection. They have an eternal identification and can look forward to life with Christ forever, but also have the privilege that as they love in Christ, they come under the knife that cuts away all the sins of the flesh.

If you were saved, you were justified for the purpose of becoming holy. In Christ, you can live out with joy the salvation that we already have.
